Socio economic and geographical frame work:

The rural commune of Imintlit is situated in the north of Amssiten, some 50 Km to the south East of Essaouira.It spreads on a surface of 70 Km2 and is composed of 9 douars,with 8357 inhabitants.

The rural commune of Imintlit is characterised by a population slightly dominated by women representing 50,45 of the total population. According to statistics,40,55% of the total population are less than 15 years old. The rate of illiteracy is 73,17% among men and 98,84% among women.
 


   

The local economy is essentially based on agriculture. The cerealiculture and arboriculture which constitute the basis of the agricultural production, and it is oriented towards auto consumption.

These agricultural practices are dictated mainly by the size of the parcels, their position often in middle slope, the lack of material and financial means as well as adequate technical expertises.

The dominance of goat breeding, the existence of damaged lands, the lack of job opportunities, the aridity of the climate and the nature of the existing vegetation also characterize the region. These factors, among other things, contribute to the development of this activity, essentially practised by women and children.

However, the productivity, the incomes generated from this activity remain very weak because of the lack of highly nourishing fodder species, of the weakness of the performance of goat herds ,and the absence of zones of extensive courses;
